The North Shore 5K & 10K Swim hosted by EAT PONO is Hawaii’s first and only 5k & 10k swim race and endurance challenge from Sunset Beach to Waimea Bay. This year’s race will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2025.
5k Swim:
You do not have to qualify for the 5K Swim but please be honest about your ability & fitness. Do not just ‘Chance Em’ as this is a tough swim. Lifeguards have the authority to pull swimmers from the course if they are not making sufficient progress or are endangering themselves or others. Swimmers will start from Sunset Beach at 8:30am and swim to Waimea Bay for the finish! There will be a separate division for FINS for the 5K swim only.
10k Swim:
Swimmers must provide proof they have trained sufficiently to participate in the 10k swim. You must be able to show that you have completed a 2.3-mile race in under 2 hours within the previous 2 years to qualify for the 10k option. Please provide race name, date, and time on the application in order for us to verify & qualify you for this event. You must have an escort for the 10k event! Kayaks, SUPs, or Paddleboards are acceptable. We do not supply the escorts or crafts for this event. Please call Jon @ 479-426-7247 for more information on the 10K option. Swimmers will start at Waimea Bay at 7am & swim to Sunset Beach for the turnaround, then head back to Waimea for the finish!
